Hunt Club Park Community Center Drop-In Classes

Pump your way to a healthy heart, mind and body through our wide variety of group exercise classes.

* The pass does not guarantee a spot in the class. For participant safety, we limit the number of spaces available for drop-in classes and vary upon class format. Classes with set dates and classes offered at Viking Park require pre-registration. * Not valid on pre-registration classes or classes at Viking Park. Pass is valid for one year.

Hunt Club Park Community Center Group Exercise Fees Purchase a 10-Visit Group Exercise pass* to mix and match a variety of group exercise classes to achieve a broad spectrum of fitness. Fit Pass holders receive a discounted rate on these passes. If you would like to pay as you go, choose the daily fee.

Class Descriptions:

BODYPUMP: This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast! (I, A) (S)

Cardio Interval: Interval training is one of the most effective ways to burn fat and lose weight. We’ll keep you moving at different levels of intensity designed to get your heart pumping, bring it down, and do it all again! (I, A) (C)

F.I.T. (Fast Intense Training): The calories and pounds will melt away in this high intensity cardio class. Athletic drills and kickboxing moves will make you sweat. Then, tone and tighten that area below the belt with some gut-busting, butt-tightening moves. If you need motivation you’ve come to the right place!

Functional Fitness: Expect a class that incorporates strength training, balance, coordination, plyometrics, and training, all designed to work your body in different planes of motion. This class will teach you how to use your body differently, more effectively, and safely. Class difficulty will be determined by the participant’s exertion level. We guarantee that you will feel this the next day! (B, I) (S, T)
Gentle Yoga : A soft and gently flowing Yoga class with beginner basics and Restorative Yoga curriculum included. (B, I) (F)

Half & Half: A full hour split into two 30 minute segments that can be a combination of any of the above listed classes. Most Half & Half classes include Zumba, Pilates, Step, or Yoga. This class is instructor choice. (B, I, A) (C, S)

Kickboxing: A class full of kicks, punches, and cardio! Fusing martial arts, boxing, and kickboxing into an intense cardio workout that will leave you feeling energized and tougher than ever! No previous experience is necessary. (B, I, A) (K, C)

Namaste Yoga: Intro to Intermediate Levels. Practice yoga postures, basic breathing, and techniques for better relaxation and stress reduction. Learn to cultivate inner peace through awareness and self-discovery. (B, I, A)

Pilates: Class focuses on core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced, supported and aligned. Pilates teaches awareness of breath, alignment of the spine, and aims to strengthen the deep torso muscles. (B, I, A)

Steppin’ Strong: This is not your mother’s step class! We’ll have you stepping vertically across, over, and onto the step for a really fun and different, but challenging cardio workout! This class is designed for all levels, even if you’ve never stepped. Modifications and higher intensity levels will be given so participants can work at their own levels. Intervals of strength training or core work may also be included. (B, I, A) (C)

Spin: Spin is an indoor cycling class that simulates an intense outdoor ride. Cycle classes are for MEMBERS only. All members must purchase a Spin Pass in order to participate. (B, I, A)

Sweat & Sculpt: Burn fat and tone your body with this non-stop cardio, step and strength-training class. (B, I, A)

Targeted Strength Training: This class will concentrate on specific muscle groups for a training experience unlike other strength classes. We will concentrate on burning out specific body areas to give you a concentrated and specific workout. Be prepared to fatigue your muscles! (B, I, A) (S)

Total Body Conditioning: Half the class will include strength exercises; the other half will include cardio. Instructor chooses class structure and cardio formats. (B, I, A) (C&S)
Tread & Shed: This 60 minute class starts in the Fitness Center with a treadmill or elliptical workout. Workouts will be guided by instructor and may be interval based. The remainder of the class will take place in either the Fitness Center or Gym with stations set up for individualized workouts. (B, I, A) (C)

Vinyasa Yoga: A vigorous physical workout, along with practice in mental focus and breathing technique. The term “vinyasa” simply means “to link”. The Yoga postures are linked by various series of movements intended to keep the muscles warm in order to promote increased endurance and flexibility. Students will leave class feeling strong, relaxed, rejuvenated, and smiling! (B, I, A) (F)

Yoga: The perfect way to start your week! A mix of balancing poses, vinyasas (flowing sequences) and stretches will challenge you to take your yoga practice to the next level and leave you feeling fantastic. Enjoy the healing, non-competitive environment that will help you find your inner peace. (B, I, A)

Yoga Body Sculpt: This strength-building Vinyasa flow class focuses on sculpting your buns and thighs while flattening your belly and strengthening your core. (B, I, A)

Yoga w/Weights: Class will incorporate very light weights and resistance into the Yoga practice. The result is a demanding workout that will provide all the benefits of Yoga while adding additional muscle conditioning. (B, I, A)

Zumba: The ultimate dance party! Come for an awesome dance-based workout that has the entire country buzzing!

Pre-Registration Classes

Several group exercise classes are offered on a pre-registration basis at both our Hunt Club Park and Viking Community Centers.

Cardio Boxing on the Bags: Punch and kick your way to a phenomenal cardio workout on the free standing heavyweight bags. If you are looking for a workout that will challenge you, relieve stress, and increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance – this is what you’ve been looking for! This class will incorporate kickboxing and boxing techniques, and is designed as a challenging workout, but no prior experience is necessary. Boxing gloves are required. More Information. Fitness Yoga: Yoga techniques, exercises, postures, positions and movements increase your flexibility and muscle strength, while increasing your range of motion. Balance, agility, coordination and posture are positively affected. Manage stress and feel energized. Each participant should bring their own mat and a towel.

Practical Living Yoga: Combining the 5,000-year-old tradition of Hatha Yoga with contemporary exercise physiology provides an excellent base to build a yoga practice. Barbara Spietz and Jacquelyn Cotey blend Eastern philosophy with Western "know how" for a practical approach to wellness. Enhance mind/body awareness by increasing strength, flexibility, balance, proper breathing and stress reduction. Enjoy the healing, noncompetitive, and relaxing class environment. Wear comfortable attire, bring a mat and strap.

Barbara is an internationally-recognized master teacher who has conducted teacher training workshops throughout India and the U.S. She was featured in Yoga Chicago Magazine and is registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 500 hour level.

Jacquelyn is certified through the Chicago Yoga Center and holds additional certifications through Yoga Fit and Yoga for Golfers. She continuously studies with numerous international yoga masters and is dedicated to the promotion of wellness through yoga. Her teaching style is an Iyengar-based blend of Hatha Yoga and Vinyasa Flow

Bootcamp: If you're looking for a body-changing workout, you've come to the right place. We're not going to lie - this is a tough workout, but well worth the results. Be ready for high intensity calisthenics and athletic drills, partnered with solid strength training. You'll move non-stop through this 60-minute workout. Cardio Sculpt: Burn fat and tone your body with this blend of cardio and strength-training using a variety of equipment like steps, resistance bands and hand weights, to get a strong, sleek body.
